Urgent Appeal – All Saints Church Kesgrave
42 years ago All Saints appealed to the Kesgrave community to help us raise money for the now familiar modern church extension. You responded magnificently and since then the community has enjoyed wonderful Christmas and Easter services together, packed Mothering Sundays, Remembrance Days, we’ve come together for weddings, funerals, baptisms, flower festivals, silver games, silver café, silver screen, cream teas, Holiday at Home, the children have enjoyed flag services, Christingle services, schools join us for lessons - we sing together, praise together, eat together, laugh and cry together.
Now we need to ask for help again as our church requires urgent work this summer. Our church wiring has reached end-of-life, our lighting is dim, obsolete, trips frequently, is far from eco-friendly, and we have no options left – we have to entirely re-wire the church and install new lighting.
We cannot allow the church to close this autumn/winter due to no lights, no heating, no organ, no electricity. Throughout covid restrictions we have run as many services as ever, on Zoom; we have been available in the community and on doorsteps. But, now we want to get back into a fully functioning church, with you all.
To-date, the Lighting Appeal has raised £44,800. We are currently £25,000 short.
Built in 1280, All Saints is part of our Kesgrave history and heritage. We are its current day stewards and parishioners. It is my sincere hope that this project will be embraced by all.
£25,000 seems a huge additional sum to raise, but as we’ve already seen, every donation helps us move a step closer to this urgent remedial work. Perhaps you could donate £5 or £10? If there are individuals, families, companies or organisations that could help more that would be wonderful.
After Christmas 2020, we want Christmas 2021 to be bright, warm, and full of people, love and light. We want children back in a bright church, the elderly back in a warm church, we want colour and warmth to shine through our beautiful large stained-glass window spreading joy and hope into a dark winter’s night.
