Ipswich Red Buses
First Bus are trying to establish some form of normality for commuters now that there is a pathway and restrictions are being lifted. Park & Ride has been reintroduced from Monday to Saturday at the Copdock and Martlesham sites and many of services are getting back to some form of normality, including Route 66 Aldeburgh, Woodbridge and Felixstowe.
Covid-19 precautions are still being applied on all buses, such as a clean down at depots, restricted seating and the wearing of facemasks.
Russ Smith, Operations Manager at Ipswich Reds, said: “Our Route 66 and the Park & Ride services that run to Kesgrave and Martlesham are starting to get busier with more people travelling by bus. This is causing us a few issues with capacity, meaning that some journeys are running full due to Covid-19 guidelines relating to safety still being in place.
“I want to clarify to everyone wishing to travel by bus, that social distancing, reduced capacities, and the wearing of a face covering unless exempt are still in place and we ask everyone to adhere to the guidelines and work with us whilst we get through the next couple of months when hopefully restrictions can be lifted.
“I am pleased to confirm our travel shop is now open again for enquiries and ticket sales and it is encouraging to see an increase in demand for our services and that people are getting their confidence back to using buses as their preferred mode of travel.”
