Welcome to ‘The Drop In’ website. ‘The Drop In’ is now closed (as from Apr 07) mainly due to longer term funding issues. It may re-open but who knows. However for the two years it has run it has been extremely successful. I have left a few pages in case anyone finds the information useful in setting up similar types of club.

Experience of working with young people 11-19, preferred but not essential; interest in sport, plus patience and sense of humour a must.

TDI Fund Raising Quiz Night - 30 Sept 06

As part of the long-term commitment to become self-sustainable, TDI staff and members have organised a TDI fundraising quiz night which will take on Saturday the 30th September 2006. The quiz will take place at Kesgrave Youth Centre (to the left of the High School from the main entrance to motor vehicles) and will start at 7:30pm.

The price for entering the quiz is £15 per team and each team can have a maximum of eight people. Teams can consist of a mixture of young people, adults and older people and the topics for the quiz questions will revolve around a) knowledge of the local area, b) young people, c) sports and finally d) general knowledge.

TDI Official Opening Night A Success

Just a quick note to say we at TDI (The Drop-In) received 51 young people on our official opening night on Tues 4th October. This is a good attendance but we want as many young people to visit us during the year as this will increase the chances of TDI staying in Kesgrave beyond July 2006 which is when our funding runs out. I look forward to Tues 11th October.

The Drop In - Official Opening

We are proud to present the Grand Opening of the drop-in centre at Kesgrave Youth Centre on Tuesday 4th October at 7.30pm.

There will be a short but official opening ceremony but mainly this an evening for young people and we would like to see as many young people as possible.

This will be a fun evening to celebrate the start of a new beginning.

Many individuals, old and young, and agencies have worked hard to make this happen. A big "THANK YOU" is sent to everyone.

Drop In Centre Opening

Excellent news. Preparation for the opening of the new Drop In Centre at the Kesgrave Youth Club is well in hand. The first night for young people is Tuesday 20 September followed by an 'official opening' on 4 October. Further information on the opening night will follow later but this is an great step forward for this project and the young people of Kesgrave.

Drop In Centre Manger and Youth Workers

Interviews for the drop in centre manager and youth workers have now concluded and we are pleased to announce the appointment of Kirk Jackson as Manager and Jane Moore and Rachael Arnold as supporting youth workers. This is excellent news and means we can move forward with opening the drop in centre in September.

Drop-in Centre - Job Vacancies

Young people in Kesgrave, aged 11-19, would like to meet enthusiastic project manager to develop a drop-in centre. Hourly Rate of £12, 8 hours per week, 3 of which will be on Tuesdays 7-10 p.m.

They would also like the company of 2 Youth Workers who can help them to take part in the running of the drop-in centre. Hourly Rate of £7.50, 3 hours per week, Tuesday evenings from 7-10 p.m.

Drop In Centre Grant

After an application to the Local Network Fund , we have been awarded almost £6000 to fund a drop-in for a year at Kesgrave Youth Centre. This will act as a pilot project for the future. We hope to start in the Autumn. Congratulations to everyone who helped with the funding bid, particularly our group of young people. Thanks go to Robin Stroud of Rochford House for acting as a referee and to Friction Skatepark Association for use of their bank account.
