Welcome

Welcome to the Kesgrave and District Youth Forum web site.

Hopefully you will find this web site informative and useful. If you would like further information or would like to join and take an active part or if you have any ideas, comments on local facilities etc then please email  kdyf@kesgrave.org.uk.

Our Vision

The Kesgrave and District Youth Forum is an organisation which is working to provide somewhere safe for young adults to go, creating opportunities to access facilities and activities, and involving young people in decisions so their voice can be heard.  It is working to develop young people's potential and create a safer community for everybody.

Our Aims

Our Charitable Status and Constitution

We are currently not applying for charitable status although we have prepared most of the documentation as we feel there is little benefit in doing so. We have also created and approved a constitution covering how we run ourselves.

How We Meet Our Aims

To meet our vision and aims we are undertaking the following:

Helping to publicise facilities and help available to young people in the area e.g online web sites covering health issues, exam support, drugs etc, Youth Clubs, detached workers, other youth organisations etc

Who We Are

The forum is made up of representatives from various organisations.

Listed below are the main committee roles and organisations involved.

Peter Street - Chairperson

Veronica Read - Secretary

Celia Comber - Treasurer

Reps from: Kesgrave Town Council, Rushmere Parish Council, Martlesham Parish Council, Suffolk County Council, Suffolk Coastal District Council, Suffolk Constabulary, Youth and Connexions, County Councillors, District Councillors, Extended Schools Development Officer, Kesgrave Youth Club, Kesgrave Scout Group, All Saint Church, SPARK, Kesgrave Community Centre, Adults and Young People,

Membership

Membership of the forum is open to anyone aged 11 years or over who is interested in supporting the aims and objectives of the Kesgrave and District Youth Forum or is a representative of the Town Council, Parish councils, voluntary organisations, sports organisations and any clubs or organisations interested in furthering the work of the charity, existing or newly formed.

Meetings

Main committee meetings are held roughly every 2 months throughout the year. These are open meetings and new members are welcome at any time (although you must be aged 11 or above). The usual venue is Kesgrave Town Council Offices. There are also working party meetings organised as required. Again open to all. Meeting dates are advertised on the front page of this website and on the Kesgrave Community website calendar.

Events To Go To

Details of events that are being organised by the Youth Forum or in conjunction with, or by, other organisations that are aimed specifically at young people will be advertised on the home page of the Kesgrave Community website and/or on the Kesgrave Community website calendar.

Please support these events. They are for you and without your support these events won’t flourish.

If these events are successful then we’ll continue to push for them to become permanent events or look to put on more. At the end of the day it’s down to you and your support.

If you know of an event that you think would be of interest to other young people email us and we’ll publicise it. Also if you would like to help run an event or would be willing to help set up a new event/club, again email us. Working together we may be able to make your ideas become a reality.

If you have any feedback on any of these events or previous events, then please email us.
