Sunday Crafts

The following craft activities will be taking place during October (10.00 – 12.00 noon):

Sunday 6th Today is Mad Hatter’s Day. Design a crown for the Queen of Heart’s in Alice in Wonderland;

Sunday 13thCelebrate Suffolk Libraries Day with a Frozen party. Pop along and make Olaf from Frozen and meet him;

Sunday 20th It’s International Sloth Day. Design a sloth on a branch to take home to celebrate;

Sunday 27thHalloween is on the 31st October. Make a paper tube bat to decorate your home.

Activities are free. Parents must stay with under eights. There’s no need to book – just turn up and have a go.


Free BookStart Sessions

Every Thursday including all School Holidays.

These are free activities for pre-school children and their parents or carers. Why not come along and join Jean every Thursday for songs, rhymes and poems?

Tot Rock - action rhymes, songs and stories for toddlers - 9.45am – 10.15 am.

BabyBounce – songs and rhymes for babies – 10.30am – 11.00am.

Story Time Sessions – every Friday 9.45 – 10.15 a.m. including half-term.

This session combines stories and rhymes. All welcome. Why not pop along?


Other Library Events for October 2019

Lego Club - Every Tuesday afternoon (Term Time) 3.45 – 4.45 p.m. We now a volunteer who will lead this activity and each week will be a different theme. What will you design? Parents must stay with under 8s. 01/10 Free Play, 08/10 Animals 15/10 Things that fly and 29/10 Halloween.

Wednesday 2nd and 16th OctoberKnit and Natter – From 2.30 p.m. £1.00 donation - tea, coffee and biscuits provided. New members very welcome. You don’t need to knit, just pop along for a cup of tea and a natter.

03/10/2019 – Afternoon Book Group - 2.45 p.m. They are currently reading Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeywell.

21/10/2019 – IT Drop In sessions 9.30 – 12.00 noon. Need some help with some aspect of IT? Pop along and see a member of staff, who will be pleased to help.

24/10/2019 – Evening Book Group – 7.00 p.m. They are currently reading The ABC Murders by Agatha Christie.

28/10 - MacMillan Cancer Support Mornings 9.30 – 11.30 a.m. – Once a month the library is holding a group for those suffering with cancer and their carers. This group is an opportunity to meet others, chat and offer each other support. Leaflets offering advice will be available. Coffee, tea and biscuits will also be provided. Just pop along, if you would like to attend. We now have a very experienced volunteer, who worked for Macmillan, helping to run this session.

Cards for Good Causes – Charity Christmas Cards /Suffolk Wildlife Christmas Cards from Saturday 5th October (during library opening hours) - The festive season gets under way in Kesgrave when the Cards for Good Causes charity Christmas card shop opens on Saturday 5th October. Perfect for those who want to get ahead in their Christmas preparations, while supporting a range of national and local charities, including your local library where every sale benefits us as well.


Suffolk Libraries Day - A week of events - Monday 7th – Sunday 13th October

Did you know, that all the libraries in Suffolk are run by Suffolk Libraries IPS Ltd, a charitable organisation? Events at Kesgrave include: -

  • A Library Treasure Hunt (all week) – find the 15 library names hidden in the library and win a prize - £1 per go
  • Snail Trail (all week) – Do you have loads of change you don’t know what to do with? Why not bring it along to the library and add it to our snail trail? Can we get all the way round the perimeter in a week?
  • Saturday 12th from 2.30 p.m. Meet Kate Thompson – being held at Felixstowe Library. Kate is a Sunday Times Best Selling author whose books inlcude Secrets of the Singer Girls, Secrets of the Sewing Bee as well as the newly released Secrets of the Homefront Girls. Tickets are £7.00 including tea/coffee and homemade cake. Please contact either library to buy a ticket.
  • Sunday 13th Frozen Party from 10.00 – 12.00 noon. To celebrate the release of the new film, why not pop along dressed as your favourite Disney character and meet Olaf? There will also be a raffle, tombola, refreshments and other exciting things to do.


Saturday 19th October (all day)

MacMillan Cancer Coffee Morning. Why not pop along and support this worthwhile charity and find out about the Library’s support group at the same time.
