Summer Reading Challenge Crafts:

The following craft activities will be taking place during August:

Sunday 4th – Saturday 10th – Have you ever seen a flying saucer? Design one for your space creature to travel in;

Sunday 11th – Saturday 17thWe are making astronauts this week. Why not personalise yours by bringing along a photo of your face to add to the helmet?

Sunday 18th –Saturday 24thDo you think there are aliens in space? Make an alien mask to disguise yourself;

Sunday 25th – Saturday 31st – Create your own space scene with a rocket flying to the moon.

Activities are free. Parents must stay with under eights. There’s no need to book – just turn up and have a go.

Free BookStart Sessions – every Thursday including all School Holidays.

These are free activities for pre-school children and their parents or carers. Why not come along and join Jean every Thursday for songs, rhymes and poems?

Tot Rock - action rhymes, songs and stories for toddlers - 9.45am – 10.15 am.

BabyBounce – songs and rhymes for babies – 10.30am – 11.00am.

Other Library Events for August 2019

29/08/2019 – Evening Book Group – 7.00 p.m. They are currently reading Sleeper’s Castle by Barbara Erskine.

If you are interested in joining any of the groups, please ring or speak to a member of staff.

Summer Reading Challenge – Space Chase Saturday 20th July – Sunday 8th September.

If you haven’t signed up yet, you’re not too late! Kesgrave Library will be running sessions during the following hours (Monday 9.30 – 11.30 a.m. Tuesday 2.30-5.00 p.m. Wednesday/Thursday 2.30-5.30 p.m. Friday 9.00–12 noon, Saturday 2.30-5.00 p.m. and Sunday 10.00–1.00 p.m.) where children can come in, enrol and talk to the volunteers about the books they have read. During the above times there will also be free craft activities which are inspired by the Space Chase theme. To finish the challenge each child needs to read 6 books, at least one of which needs to be non-fiction.

Suffolk Parent Carer Network: Tuesday 6th August 2.30 – 4.30 p.m.

Do you have a child or young person with additional needs and/or disabilities? Would you like to have access to resources and events? Pop along to the library and meet the Ambassador from the SPCN, who is returning to the library and will be available to offer support and advice on a range of issues.

Donating Books

Having a sort out at home and have too many books? We are currently looking for good condition fiction to be donated to the library. We have two shelves in Tesco’s that we sell our donated books on to raise money for the library. Please speak to staff if have some books you would like to donate.
