Burglaries - uPVCs doors with multi-point locking
Police are reminding households with a uPVC door with multi-point locking, to make sure you use the key to engage the locks and then remove the key, every time you shut the door.
If you do not engage the locks and remove the key, an offender can reach through the letter box and open the door.
They do this either by reaching in or by using a coat hanger or similar object to reach the handle and pull it down or take the keys from the lock.
Keep the key in a safe place out of sight of the door in a place where everyone in the household can get it, if required in the event of an emergency.
