New Bus Timetables for all local bus services + Route Changes - From 1 Sep

First Bus is making some major changes to our local bus network. Some services will be cut as the bus company says they are not economically viable to run. There will also be some bus route changes in Ipswich town centre too, aimed at improving punctuality.

Suffolk police urging more volunteers to join special constabulary

More volunteers are actively being sought to join the ranks of Suffolk’s Special Constabulary.

Special constables are volunteer police officers who give their time to assist the regular police force in keeping communities in Suffolk safe. Committed recruits, keen to experience the rewards and challenges of policing, are being invited to support the community. Volunteers at any stage in life and of any background are encouraged to apply to become a special. There will be a special constabulary recruitment event on: Thursday 19 September – starting at 6pm until 8pm – LEC 2, Police Headquarters, Portal Avenue, Martlesham Heath, IP5 3QS.

Dobbs Lane and Gayfer Avenue – Footway Resurfacing – Jul-Sep

Suffolk highways will be resurfacing the footway along Dobbs Lane and Gayfer Avenue from July to September. Work will be carried out from around 7:30 am until 4 pm each day. During this period traffic will be diverted.

Kesgrave Neighbourhood Plan Public Consultation 8 Jul – 2 Sep

The Neighbourhood Plan has now got to a point where it needs to be submitted to the Planning Inspector. However before this is undertakne, it needs re-affirmation support from Kesgrave residents. This Consultation will take place for 8 weeks.  To support this there will also be question and answer sessions. Comments need to be sent in writing to Kesgrave Town Council either as a letter or email.

Ipswich Northern Route consultation - 5 Jul - 13 Sep

Members of the public are invited to have their say on the potential options for the Ipswich Northern Route. The public are being asked to comment on three proposed routes for the new road to the north of Ipswich. During this time eleven drop-in sessions will be held throughout July where members of the public can find out about the project and speak with the team. Kesgrave's date is Tue 16 July 3-7pm Kesgrave Community Centre.

A community connector can discuss what issues you are facing, explore what matters to you in your life and what services and activities are available. This is a free confidential service for anyone over the age of 18 years. They also offer the option to book an appointment through the Birches Medical Centre surgery.

Women on Wheels comes to Kesgrave - Registration is now open

Women on Wheels (WoW) Kesgrave takes place on Sunday 1st September and registrations for the event are now open. Women on Wheels events are mass participation female-only bike rides, with a strong focus on the fun, friendly and inclusive aspects of cycling. All ages and abilities are welcome.

Library Summer Reading Challenge – Space Chase Sat 20 Jul – Sun 8 Sep

This year’s Reading Challenge is all about Space to celebrate 50 years since the moon landing.

Due to the popularity of the challenge, a session will run every day at Kesgrave Library with three days of sign up in the week before the challenge starts on Tuesday 16th, Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th July from 3.00 – 5.00 p.m.

Going with the flow – tides and the Deben estuary - Oct 15-27

This ambitious project aims to increase appreciation and enjoyment of the estuary environment through a wide range of information and activities (serious and fun) that enable people of all ages to gain an understanding of why tides occur, the impact of tidal flow on the ecology of the estuary, tidal terminology and forces involved in navigating the river.  It is designed to appeal to experts and to people who find science uninteresting or opaque.
