Brass Training Day Review - 27 September 2015

On Sunday 27th September the East Anglian Brass Band Association held its Annual Brass Training Day at the Hewett School, Norwich. Sixty delegates from age of 8 upwards had enrolled for the course

The section tutors who were from Brighouse & Rastrick Band were Mike Golding (sopranos and front row cornets), Joseph Williams (rep, 2nd and 3rd cornets), Sheona White (flugels and tenor horns), Ryan Watkins (trombones) and Matt Wade (basses). David Thornton from Fodens was course leader and euphoniums and baritones tutor.

The music studied was The Royal Trophy (W. Rimmer), The Conquest of Paradise (Vangelis arr. Alan Fernie), Bolivar (Eric Cook arr. Derek Ashmore), Olympus (Philip Harper) and In Perfect Peace (Kenneth Downie).

The day was very enjoyable and constructive. The delegates were privileged to accompany Ryan Watkins in the Trombone Solo Bolivar.

Association Chairman, Christine Wade said "The day was hugely successful". Delegates described the day as "fantastic", "the best ever", "great", "brilliant."

The Association wishes to thank David, Mike, Joseph, Sheona, Ryan and Matt for an excellent day.
